Recently, I expanded into fluid acrylics, using bold paint and multiple techniques. This art medium perfectly suits my desire for color and unique structures. In many ways, the results resemble the surprise micro-crystals have to offer. “I now spread my time between fluid acrylics and scoping. I love the uncertainty, the magic and creativity that goes into both mediums. When I grow crystals and put the slide under the microscope lens, the anticipation grows. It’s hard to explain. I don’t know what I’m going to see. Those moments after adjusting the focus and lighting, when I suddenly see a magical world come into view are breath-taking. They are fantastical! The same with fluid acrylics. The art piece can transform as it progresses and […]

While working and raising a family, sewing and gardening were easier hobbies to follow. “Our family has made our home on the Central Coast for the past 29 years and we love living here. “I have always loved beach rocks, shells, semi-precious stones and minerals and, found that wire wrapping gave me a way to incorporate these into beautiful art. “Using wire from hobby stores, at first, I soon discovered one of my daughters was very allergic to something in the wire, probably nickel. For lack of a cave wall, my first masterpiece, a maroon Crayola giraffe, was executed on the upholstery of a new piece of furniture. My mother assured me that was when I began suffering for my art. Ever since we humans figured out how to string stones and bones, we’ve adorned ourselves with things we find aesthetically pleasing. I got in on that action after a half-century of drawing and painting. Now, I view jewelry-making as 3-dimensional painting. I love the colors, shapes, and textures of natural stones, various metals, and vintage beads. The breathtaking beauty of the Central Coast provides endless inspiration. If you share my obsession with shiny, sparkly, and natural things, please have a look. If you make a purchase, you’ll be supporting Alzheimer’s and cancer research. Wear my jewelry in good health!”
