Creativity has been a constant thread woven through every phase of my life. In my childhood, drawing and painting were my favorite pastimes — whether on paper, canvas or the walls of our home. In later years, artmaking was a kind of refuge from a more complicated world. Today, it is an ever-evolving pursuit – a quest to communicate the beauty found in everyday experiences, inspiring me in ways that words cannot adequately express.

Dianne Ravin is an award-winning artist, jewelry designer and silversmith. She received art instruction at an early age, available from instructors at a local college and nearby museum. As art was considered to be an “impractical” career choice in those years, she established herself in the world of information technology – a field that demanded creativity, but one devoid of the aesthetics she so highly valued in the visual arts. Retiring to California’s Central Coast, with its profusion of natural beauty, Dianne has found inspiration all around, and is once again able to fully engage in her passion for art. She is primarily a representative painter, working in oils – capturing the beauty of the human figure, the expressive power of portraiture or the play of light on our dynamic ocean-influenced landscape.
