He teaches online at the Bryan Peterson School of Photography (BPSOP.com) and regularly posts pictures, tips, and insights on his Facebook and Instagram pages. “My work evolved out of a desire to express my vision,” says Kerry. “To capture scenes as I see them, I use in-camera techniques — so no AI or Photoshop creations. She captures the rich architectural beauty of historic missions, the patchwork tapestry of rolling hills, and the quiet pleasures of relaxing at home with a good book and a cup of tea. Grateful to be part of such a stunning natural setting, Nancy strives to preserve the joy in her watercolors.

Art Listings: March 2025 Featured Artists: Exhibits: 2nd Saturday Opening Reception: Location: Contact: Upper Gallery I Featured Artist: Grant Kreinberg, Photography Artist Statement: I didn’t start out to be an artist. Engineering has been my career. Photography has been my passion. I got my first camera when I was about 12 and never really stopped taking photographs. My education and experience have been as a civil engineer. I’ve gotten into the habit of carrying a camera with me, wherever I go. When something catches my eye, I photograph it. I’ve discovered that I have a good eye, and a great imagination. My goal is to take photos that folks look at and say, “That’s a cool shot.” I photograph what I see, and it took me years to realize that most folks didn’t see what I saw. My photos are representative of my different photographic interests. I favor nature and the outdoors of Northern California. I live in Northern California, and I’m always looking for a new road or a new area to explore. The abstracts are the product of my mind modifying what my eye sees. I’m a member of the BlackHawk Gallery in Danville, the Gallery at Marina […]

In her San Luis Obispo studio, she coaxes acrylics onto canvases where the dance between light and form seems to breathe and move. Each painting is to be observed slowly, like memory emerging from a fog. When you look at her work, you don’t see a scene; you’re stepping into another world. Her paintings invite you to look closer, to wander through each brushstroke or wave of pigment, discovering hitherto unknown shapes. Laura’s artistic endeavors seek to create a more vivid, personal language that feels like someone speaking naturally about art […]

What is the Sublime? The sublime was a prominent art term and visual pursuit, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries.  However in it’s heyday, the sublime was pictorially sought through naturalistic landscape paintings. Products which are very different from Brian’s abstract work. In aesthetics, the sublime (from the Latin sublīmis) is the quality of greatness, whether physical, moral, intellectual, metaphysical, aesthetic, spiritual, or artistic. The term especially […]

Alan B. Cohen is attracted to contrasts of new and Alan B. Cohen is attracted to contrasts of new and old, created and found, weathered to highly finished. His sculptural art fabrications begin with items he finds washed up on west coast beaches. These objects generally speak to him about a direction or suggest an idea. He transforms his sculptures by adding old fishing tackle, rusted wire, tools, brushes, and other recycled objects to create birds, underwater creatures, masks and abstract pieces. Some pieces are simple and elegant, while others are whimsical and fantastical. #bigsur #travelcalifornia #art #alancohen pn
