Artist Statement:
Jarien de Ham uses the natural effects of muted sun and fog to translate local scenery on the Central Coast where she has lived for many years into paintings that are a fusion of western and Asian techniques. Besides landscape, subjects also include Asian calligraphy, bird and flower, and figures which aim to work within these four Chinese genres in both modern and traditional styles.
