Gallery at Marina Square hosts a Gallery Atrium Party and Featured Artists Opening Reception every 2nd Saturday from 3pm to 5pm. Craft Featured Artist: Steve Dayton, Assemblages Artist Statement: Steve divides his time between creating assemblages and abstract painting on wood panels. The assemblages are made by taking small hand built familiar objects and motifs and placing them in box frames to create absurd scenes that include absurd and humorous titles. Steve has recently begun creating absurd scenes out of cut painted paper pasted on heavy paper also with absurd and humorous titles. The paintings are abstracts in his Cayucos series using acrylic paint inspired by visits to the Central Coast. He and his wife Barbara currently reside in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Lower Gallery Featured Artist: VIRGINIA MACK Artists' Statement— In Virginia’s own words: I am a colorist. I love exploring the beguiling interplay between color and light. The way we see color is always affected by the lighting in which we find ourselves. Moonlight, summer light, winter light, shadows, deep shade. Each has its own way of revealing to us what is before us. My pursuit in painting is to capture the subtleties of color, as a means of savoring the experience I am immersed in. Each subject in each setting captures my senses, endlessly fascinates me, and hopefully guides me to a way of revealing the richness of each moment.
