Bird and Flower painting, one of the four genres of Chinese painting, initially drew her in. This was followed by Calligraphy and classes in China that covered Landscape and Figure painting. While the Central Coast is far from China, many elements revered in Chinese art can be found here — cypress trees with their irregular balance, foggy atmosphere, fish, and birds. These subjects appear throughout Jari’s paintings, sculptures, and various craft forms.
