Over his long career as an artist, he has won awards for his acrylic paintings, pen and ink drawings, illustrated books, greeting cards, and poetry.  He and his wife Kathie taught art in the Hibbs’ Cove Art Centre in Newfoundland, Canada and many other venues in California.  They also opened an art gallery where he sold scenes of fishing village life to collectors from around the world, and the Provincial Government.  George has a delightful sense of humor which comes through in his paintings, drawings and poetry, and brings laughter and joy to […]

Ardella’s painting inspirations have been the subjects found in the many places she has lived—from living on a cattle ranch north of Cayucos to the beautiful harbor of Morro Bay, California.  In addition, Ardella has given painting classes in many locations throughout the Central Coast for many years.  She has recently moved to Seattle, WA and continuing her painting and crafts.

While she’s always enjoyed drawing and art, she learned to draw well while studying landscape architecture in college. In 1998, she began focusing her artistic efforts on colored pencil drawing, and has slowly built up her portfolio. Each picture takes about 20 to 25 hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the background. She starts with a line drawing, slowly building up multiple layers of color to achieve the depth and intensity she’s looking for. I love exploring the beguiling interplay between color and light.The way we see color is always affected by the lighting in which we find ourselves.Moonlight, summer light, winter light, shadows, deep shade. Each has its own way of revealing to us what is before us.My pursuit in painting is to capture the subtleties of color, as a means of savoring the experience I am immersed in.Each subject in each setting captures my senses, endlessly fascinates me, and hopefully guides me to a way of revealing the richness of each moment.
