My style is based on the non-objective modern expressionist movement that originated in post-WWII New York. I work in an intuitive manner exploring line, form and color, but without a goal in mind.“My upbringing in colorful India, and my training as a physician and scientist, inspires me to meld colors and shapes on the canvas to create organic forms that spontaneously engage viewers. The finished painting evolves from the layers of paint I add to each piece. Some works may have as many as half a dozen layers that add to the perception of depth. “Though the combination of lines and shapes may be perceived in my art by the viewer as a certain object, this is rarely by design. As an artist, I choose to create work that imparts happiness, a sense of excitement or calm, warmth and hope. Nature’s colors, patterns and textures fascinate me. Even as a young girl, my goal was to capture nature’s character and strength in pictures that evoked awe. Photography became my primary medium. “My photography expanded to include the hidden world of the micro cosmos. Using a high-powered polarization microscope, I discovered extraordinary, intricate dazzling crystals with unique natural structures and patterns. The intricate micro-crystal arrangements I create captivate viewers and stimulate their imaginations to interpret an abstract pattern into a familiar scene just like those […]
