She now resides with her husband in a small town between Santa Clarita and Palmdale, California. Stevie is a self-taught artist and while exploring different mediums, she found her love for watercolor. Her work has been displayed in group shows around Southern California. “My work depicts autobiographical experiences. Through my art I am able to share both the ecstasies of my life and the struggles of trying to understand the world around me. I found a deep love for watercolor and use it in many of my pieces. Watercolor flows freely and is unpredictable just like the hidden child within.”

This passion shines throughout Cathy’s work and has attracted a wide audience.  Cathy’s style is unmistakable.  Her talent for rare captures of amazing images fills her portfolio with a sense of passion, inspiration and the extraordinary. Her success derives from the patient pursuit of unique moments, the magic, and energy of the streets and outdoors. Cathy’s photographs have been published in a large variety of media ranging from calendars, books, canvas, metal and print.

Her primary medium is wool but she also incorporates various other fibers into her art. Her work is created both using wet felting and needle felting techniques. “I love the tactile nature of the fibers and their ability to lend themselves to both the realistic and playful. Needle felting allows for sculpting the fibers and creating 3-D pieces which speaks to my interest in engineering and natural forms. It is a wonderful to sit with the fibers and create every day and the added level of joy experienced by sharing with others heightens the creative process.”

California’s colorful landscapes from the water’s edge to mountaintops are a constant source of my artistic inspirations.As a resident artist of California, I gravitate towards painting nearby coastal scenes and landscapes from National Parks. While most of my paintings are studio based, I also paint plein air whenever possible. I am also an avid traveller and photographer and spend significant amount of time photographing the beautiful landscapes during my travel. Ardella’s painting inspirations have been the subjects found in the many places she has lived—from living on a cattle ranch north of Cayucos to the beautiful harbor of Morro Bay, California. In addition, Ardella has given painting classes in many locations throughout the Central Coast for many years.
