It can relax, inspire, transform, elate, motivate, and hundreds of other things. My hope is that you have art in your life. And if my images can be a part of your art and in some way touch you beyond the “what a beautiful photo”, I am touched as well.” Karen Peterson’s images showcase her love for the Central Coast and have won numerous awards including the Central Coast Photographic Society’s juried fine art photography shows, the Mid-State Fair, San Mateo County Fair, KINSA, New Times & Palo Alto Weekly Photo Contests.   

FEATURED ARTIST Upper Gallery: PATRICIA NEWTON Fine Art Oil Painting Artists’ Statement—  In Patricia’s own words: “I knew early on, that art would somehow become an intrinsic part of my life! “Although a career path would lead me in a different direction, I worked hard, painted when time permitted and raised a family.  I moved to the Central Coast of California, where I fell in love with rolling hills that reach to the sea and began to pursue lifelong dreams of becoming a professional artist. The local landscape has had a profound impact on the artwork I create in oil. “My style is representational, utilizing a glazing technique of many thin layers to create a translucent effect that provides depth and emanates light from my paintings.  My current body of work has been inspired by the powerful movement of the sea and magnificent coastline. “During the last thirty-five years. I’ve become an award winning artist, a member of The Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America and currently serve as President of Morro Bay Art Association.”  

JULY EMAIL INVITATION SHOW DATES:  JULY 1 TO  JULY 29, 2020 FEATURED ARTIST Lower Gallery:  Hema Sukumar FINE ART PAINTING   Artists’ Statement—   In Hema’s own words:   “As a resident artist of California, I gravitate towards painting nearby coastal scenes and landscapes from National Parks.  While most of my paintings are studio based, I also paint plein air whenever possible.  I am also an avid traveller and photographer and spend significant amount of time photographing the beautiful landscapes during my travel.  My photos often serve as scenic reminders of the places I visit and later become subjects for my studio paintings.  When I am not traveling, you will frequently find me painting the colorful flowers and critters from my garden.”
