I began painting in pastel, watercolor and Acrylic six years ago. In the past year I painted several big pieces in acrylic and fluid acrylic. I like intended color and the freedom feeling I get from acrylic mediums. I have painted birds, flowers, seascapes, landscapes and pet portraits. They have been both realistic and abstract.
Ji Li was born in China and grew up in Beijing. She lived in London UK for 12 years, where she taught Mandarin at Kings College and the UK Foreign Office. She and her husband, the writer Scott Bradfield. moved to California Central Coast in 2016.
Ji was influenced by several of her family members
who were professional artists. She liked drawing and painting from time to time when she lived in London, but went on to develop her painting skills after she moved to California.
Ji is impressed and inspired by Central Coast scenery. She paints landscapes, seascapes, birds, flowers and pet portraits. Her work ranges from the realistic to
the abstract in her preferred mediums of watercolor, pastel and acrylic. Ji was awarded Honorable Mention by Central Coast Pastel Society Juried Show, and accepted by Central Coast Watercolor Society and Moro Bay Art in the Park
Juried Shows. Her paintings have been displayed and sold in Moro Bay Art Association Gallery, Moro Bay Gallery at Marina Square, Pismo Seaside Gallery, and San Luis Obispo Art Central exhibitions. Through her paintings, Ji hopes to express herself to the world.
