DECEMBER RECEPTION NIGHT.. ART WALK  FRIDAY.. & SANTA CRAWL The weather for tonight’s reception was perfect!  And it was our last reception night of 2017‼️ We’ve had such a good year for all of our shows and Featured Artists despite the road closures and fires!  What a year! And “Changing Tides” has received huge exposure and highlighted in New Times (see link below) https://www.newtimesslo.com/sanluisobispo/opening-reception-for-changing-tides/Event?oid=3744406 and in local newspapers and online platforms the whole month. We handed out the SANTA HATS tonight so that all of our artists had one and the winery who was supposed to be pouring wine tonight never showed up! So Terri Bayus, who’s in charge of the Santa Crawl, carried a case of wine up to our Gallery and our own artists poured the wine!!!  Thank you Gregory McIntosh and Neal Swanberg and Don Doubledee!!! And OMG! we had loads of people coming into the Gallery..both rooms were packed with first time buyers and locals who had never climbed the stairs to visit us. We had lots of sales tonight!  And many of our artists did their Christmas shopping at the Gallery!!  I hope that more of us will do that as well!  Thank you Dottie and Hope […]

HELLO EVERYONE The heat has everyone uncomfortable and we are so lucky to be close to the ocean!  And that’s what brings folks from the 3-digit heat Valley to come our way for heat-relief.  We have lots of people in town this weekend and Art in the Park is bringing art-lovers to our Gallery as well. SET UP DAY Our Set Up Day was such fun.  Carlo and Betsy came early, having stayed up most of the night getting Carlo’s show ready, so that we could work together and get his amazing photos installed for his show.  The Hanging Crew—Spanky, Don, Jeff, & Greg— did an amazing job!  Getting frames unwrapped, sorted, and hung is a big job…but we have such a great time working together!! In the upper room is Mary de Wilde’s amazing photography show.  She brought her work in the day before and the crew was able to get started on her installation super early….way before she got there, so I didn’t get a photo of Mary….but her show is wonderful!!  And she already has a large, full color photo of her postcard image in the New Times newspaper !!  We also had a wonderful LUNCH BUNCH […]

⁣
Virginia Mack is a native Californian. She has been exploring and savoring the wild lands of the state throughout her life. She has been living on the Central Coast for 10 years. She is a part-time instructor at both Allan Hancock College and Cuesta College in the fine arts departments.
⁣
Virginia, along with her late husband John, also an artist, has spent endless hours exploring the back roads of San Luis Obispo County seeking those bits of landscape that are visually stimulating. Virginia works primarily in watercolors and mixed media and is a colorist at heart. She builds most of her pieces in a wet-on-wet process (wet watercolor paints on wet watercolor paper) resolving the pieces as the paper slowly dries. She creates the forms with rich colors that she plays off against contrasting colors thereby subduing them while preserving their presence in layers of color. She often mixes the watercolor process with work using colored pencils, pastel, charcoal, and pencil.
⁣
Virginia received her education in fine arts at the University of California, Berkeley. She has taken additional classes at The California College of Arts and Crafts and in independent workshops.
